05Common questions

Can a foreign-owned company own land?

A foreign-owned company (PT PMA) can hold land under a right to build (HGB) or a right to use (Hak Pakai), but not freehold title (Hak Milik).

Why is title due diligence important?

Overlapping claims, unregistered encumbrances and zoning issues are common. Checking early protects you from buying a problem.

What is a KPBU project?

KPBU is Indonesia’s public-private partnership scheme, in which a private party designs, builds, finances or operates public infrastructure under an agreement with a government contracting agency.
